Discover Redeemer

Our 9 o’clock hour on Sunday mornings is in transition as Dana Harris has, for the most part, wrapped up a tremendous series on the book of Revelation. Dana will return on December 16 to close the class.

In the mean-time we will once again offer our 'Discover Redeemer' course for those who want to know more about our church. This was last taught in the Spring, and if you missed all or a part of it, or have joined us since then, plan on attending. We'll cover issues surrounding our own history as a congregation, our relationship with Rwanda, our worship and sacraments, and ways you can serve at Redeemer, among other interesting topics. It was well received in the Spring, so come and discover.

The class will run 4 Sundays beginning November 18.

There will not be a 9 a.m. class this week.

Hanging of the Greens

In just a few weeks we will enter the Advent season, a time of the year in the church where we await God’s arrival, and make a place for the Lord to enter anew our families and our lives.

To mark that time, we will join together as a community to decorate the church for Advent, enjoy music of the season, make advent wreaths to take home with us, and share in a soup supper. This is an event for all of us, regardless of age, and a true 'family' event with our Redeemer family.

The 'Hanging of the Greens' will be Saturday, December 1 from 4-6 pm at Redeemer Lutheran Church on Deerfield Rd. Set aside the date on your calendar, and invite friends and family to this warm event that can serve as an antidote to the commercialization and high-pressure of the season.

Please let Allyson Entner (allyson@redeemernorthshore.org) know by November 26 if you are planning on joining us.

Weekly Time of Prayer

On Wednesday nights at 7:00 p.m., the Church of the Redeemer family has been coming together to pray. Thus far, God has not disappointed the participants. He has come to be present with us, to nourish us, to guide our prayers, to inhabit our praises. The richness of this time with "Abba" cannot be described. Please, come join with your brothers and sisters as we seek our Father's guidance. No experience necessary; simply a willing heart.
-Dan Babarik

Stewardship Update

In the closing weeks of the year, in order to meet our budget, we are in need of some sacrificial giving at Church of the Redeemer. This will not be measured in equal gifts, and it will not come from one person or family, but will happen as we all prayerfully and joyfully give to God’s work as an act of worship. God will provide, as we are able to hear his voice and respond.

We have very carefully controlled our expenditures this year at the Church so that things would not get out of hand, and it has certainly kept the effects of our giving shortfall in check. But in order to be able to begin the New Year in a place to move forward in mission and ministry we must be able to close out 2007 'on budget'. As previously published, we are in need of $145,000 (at the beginning of October) to finish our year on budget. So far, our income for October is $29,706.45

Helping out: Update on Justin Buol's sister

We recently sent out information from Justin Buol, a student who attended Redeemer during his time at Trinity who has since returned to Minneapolis and is attending an AMiA church there. Justin’s brother-in-law, Jerimiah Johnson, was killed in a one-car automobile accident on October 24. Justin’s sister, Kristin, just got married to Jerimiah in August, and she is carrying their first child, a daughter named Evangeline. We ask for your continued prayers for the Buol and Johnson families, and especially for Kristin and Evangeline.

For those of you who would like to further help out, the family is establishing a memorial fund that will eventually help pay for Evangeline's college education. If you would like to contribute, you can send your check (made out to Kristin Johnson, with "Memorial Fund" in the memo) to the church office. We will collect the funds and forward them to Kristin.

Redeemer Kids Corner

You're Invited!
Redeemer Kids is hosting a Hanging of the Greens Service for the entire church.

We hope all of you will mark your calendars and join us on Saturday, December 1 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Our time will include preparing our worship space for Advent, making personal Advent wreaths for you to enjoy in your home during the season, and will conclude with a light dinner. Please extend this invitation to those in your life who may be interested. Plan to attend so that we may corporately enter into this season of preparation and expectancy!

Please respond to Allyson Entner at
allyson@redeemernorthshore.org by November 26 if you are planning on joining us.
